It starts with one.
The origins of Inland Group date back to the late 1940s when founder Lloyd Parker launched Parker Pacific Equipment, selling US war surplus vehicles for use in Canada. Less than a decade later, Mr. Parker’s success led him to start Inland Kenworth, opening his first dealership in 1957. As one of the first Kenworth dealers in Canada, expectations from customers wanting a premium quality truck were high. Mr. Parker knew that and prepared himself and his staff to deliver.
Customer service focus brings rapid expansion.
By the end of the 1960s, Inland Kenworth had grown to 10 dealership locations, all following the integrity and customer service focus of Mr. Parker himself. Staff was treated well and many spent their entire career with Inland.
1980s – Inland Group broadens its footprint internationally.
The 1980s were a time of both economic prosperity and hardship. With high interest rates and an economic recession, many organizations focused solely on surviving. Despite these challenging times, Inland had its sights set on expansion and acquired Southern California Kenworth dealerships in Fontana and Los Angeles as well as a Kenworth dealership in Phoenix, Arizona.
Inland Group expands eastward.
The early 2000s were good to Inland as the company acquired Kenworth dealerships in Albuquerque and Farmington, New Mexico, and opened a dealership in Tucson, Arizona. The Los Angeles dealership was moved to Montebello to make it more convenient to access and enable it to accommodate more customers. By the early 2010s, Inland opened locations in Carson and San Diego to continue delivering our trademark customer service.
Parts for every truck.
Inland Group realized that more customers were seeking out more options for quality, cost-effective parts that fit any make or model of truck. In 2016, Inland opened its first-ever Inland TRP Parts store in San Diego, which specializes in All-Makes. Since then, Inland has opened and operates five Inland TRP Parts stores, including one in Mesa, Arizona.
Acquiring success.
To provide more support for customers, Inland acquired Custom Truck Sales – a Kenworth dealer in the Canadian provinces of Saskatchewan and Manitoba. This 2018 acquisition added six locations to Inland and provided invaluable insight into how another successful dealership operates.
Grown on good value.
Now with more than 30 Kenworth dealerships around North America, Inland Kenworth is one of the oldest and largest Kenworth dealers in the world. Inland Group values our long-standing relationship with Kenworth, which has played a key role in our growth and success since the late 1950s.
