  • Summary:

    The Used Truck Wholesale Specialist will be responsible for buying and selling used trucks while achieving and maintaining appropriate levels of gross profit, volume, and customer satisfaction. This position evaluates trucks proposed for purchase, repossession, or trade-in and recommends purchase price and terms to the Director – Used Truck Sales USA.  

    Actively prospects to source used trucks for inventory and wholesale resale (flip).

    • Develops relationships with end-user fleets and other truck dealerships and dealer groups as potential sources of equipment.

    • Analyzes trucks presented for purchase, trade-in, and repossession.  Works with the Director – Used Truck Sales USA to determine values.

    • Monitors customer inventories, auctions, websites, and wholesalers for purchase opportunities.

    • Actively prospects to sell individual and groups of trucks, both from current IKW inventory, as well as buy/flip sales.

    • Approaches, greets, and offers assistance or direction to any customer who enters the dealership showroom or sales lot.

    • Assists the New Truck Department as necessary to help remarket fleet trade packages.

    • Provides thorough product information and demonstration to all prospects.

    • Exhibits a high level of commitment to customer satisfaction.

    • Writes complete sales orders and processes paperwork in accordance with established dealership policies.

    • Ensures that sold vehicles meet the agreed upon sale conditions (physical/mechanical condition, road-readiness, inspections, etc.) 

    • Establishes personal income goals that are consistent with dealership standards of productivity, and devises a strategy to meet those goals.

    • Maintains a regular cadence of cold calls and active pipeline as prescribed by the Director – Used Truck Sales USA.

    • Reviews and analyzes actions at the end of each day, week, month, and year to determine how to better utilize time and plans more effectively.

  • Requirements:
    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) essential
    • Post-secondary education in sales and marketing preferred
    • Medium and heavy duty truck sales experience preferred
    • Automotive sales experience is an asset
    • Three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Familiarity with advertising mediums, terms, success rates, etc.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence (Class 3 preferred, Class 1 is an asset)
    • Excellent sales skills, preferably in a related field
    • Ability to negotiate is essential
    • Excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills
    • Good lateral thinker, creative, imaginative, “outside the box”
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
    • Strong team player
    • Strong business ethics with a professional approach at all times
    • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
    • Significant travel (up to 80%) will be required on all forms of commercial transportation to review potential purchases, attend training courses or meetings, evaluate existing inventory, or meet with current and potential customers
    • Must be able to lift up to 25 kg and carry short distances
    • Must be able to climb into and out of commercial transport vehicles
    • Must be able to operate a keyboard and other common office equipment
    • Use of personal vehicle is required
    • Given the nature of the position, an unquestionable high standard for ethics and trustworthiness is a must
    • Expected to exhibit a foundation of respect and care towards customers – internal and external
